How to do it

I hope that what you have seen in the gallery will have sharpened the appetite to have a piece made. So what should you do next?

The telephone call or email in the first instance to chat about the piece you would like made, budget available, if it is time-sensitive, will act as a suitable entrée to the next phase of making a visit.

Its important for me to see where the piece is to go, to see at first hand the surrounding space, architecture, colours, light, so that will enable me to ask the right questions regarding style, types of timber to use, size relative to the function and so on.
If necessary, on very large commissions which take many months or years to complete, a series of stage payments maybe made.
I will then go away and over a period of weeks will draw up a couple of designs and arrange to meet with you again to present them along with samples and prices.
Once the design and budget has been agreed, a contract in the form of a letter will be drawn up specifying the piece to be made, the agreed price and the delivery date.

Upon receipt of this, a deposit will be made to secure timber purchase and allocation of your commission a time schedule in the studio calendar.
Delivery of the piece will have been arranged and so the day comes when it arrives and is placed in your home, and the final balance is paid.
